Is Transferring to a U.S. University as an International Student Still Worth It?

I’m currently starting my first year at a university in my home country and have been considering transferring abroad next year. Studying overseas has always appealed to me because of the independence, exposure, and chance to experience a different lifestyle. One option is transferring to my university’s main campus in suburban Australia, but I would strongly prefer living in a large metropolitan city. I’m also considering the U.S., possibly Boston. What makes me hesitant is the current environment for international students, especially concerns around post-graduation job opportunities, immigration uncertainty, cost, financial aid, and some of the negative experiences I’ve heard about social isolation, racism, roommates, and mental health. My academic and extracurricular profile is fairly average, so generous financial aid may also be difficult. For international students currently studying in the U.S., would you still recommend transferring there, or would countries such as Australia, Canada, or somewhere in Europe offer a better overall experience and future prospects?
