    Job Overview

    Save the Children is seeking a qualified Case Worker to join its child protection program in Afghanistan. The Case Worker will be responsible for delivering case management services, supporting children and families in vulnerable situations, and ensuring compliance with child safeguarding principles. This role requires dedication, compassion, and strong communication skills to work effectively with communities, authorities, and partners.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage individual child protection cases, including assessment, case planning, referral, follow-up, and closure.
    • Draft case plans within two weeks of identification and ensure timely updates.
    • Maintain confidentiality and securely store case documentation.
    • Provide psychosocial support (PSS), guidance, and counseling to children and families.
    • Facilitate awareness-raising sessions on child protection, referral mechanisms, and positive parenting.
    • Support community-based child protection structures and deliver capacity-building sessions.
    • Coordinate with teachers, families, and child protection groups for case reviews.
    • Conduct regular monitoring visits to child-friendly spaces (CFSs) and provide technical support to facilitators.
    • Collaborate with legal and social service providers to ensure comprehensive support for children.
    • Report any child safeguarding concerns in line with Save the Children’s policies.
    • Represent the organization in inter-agency coordination meetings and contribute to project planning and reporting.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Education, Social Sciences, or related field (14th-grade education acceptable for female candidates).
    • Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in child protection, case management, or social work with NGOs.
    • Strong communication and counseling skills, particularly with children and communities.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and apply child safeguarding principles.
    • Knowledge of the local language(s) spoken in the province.
    • Willingness to travel within project districts and occasionally to other provinces.
    • Desirable: English language proficiency and computer literacy.
