The Charge nurse is responsible for the overall daily operations and smooth and efficient patient flow within the clinical area. The Charge nurse coordinates daily administrative duties, including schedules, assignments and patient care. The Charge nurse carries out their duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acts in the best interest of the patient, and fully supports the mission, vision, and values of SSMC.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competence in patient care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide patient and family-centered care.
• Monitors staff performance, providing constructive feedback, coaching, guidance, and support.
• Ensures effective utilization of human resources, consumables, and equipment.
• Provides guidance and advice to the patient care team on clinical and administrative matters.
• Facilitates effective communication between the patient, family, and healthcare team.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in nursing OR Degree in Nursing (minimum two (2) years course duration)
• Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia AND valid/current national license.
• BLS Required, ACLS, PALS relevant to area of specialty.
• NLT 6 years clinical experience post qualification in an appropriate & relevant healthcare settings
• NLT 2 years’ experience as a team leader in a particular unit
