Explora Journeys is seeking a motivated 3rd Engineer for their luxury cruise ships, responsible for assisting in the watchkeeping and maintenance of the vessel’s engineering systems in Valletta, Malta. Key Responsibilities
- Stand engine room watch and monitor all machinery and systems.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on propulsion, auxiliary, and hotel systems.
- Assist senior engineers with planned maintenance and emergency procedures.
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations and company safety standards.
- Participate in bunker operations and maintain accurate records of fuel and lubricants.
- Contribute to a safe working environment and respond effectively to alarms and emergencies.
Requirements
- Valid STCW III/1 (Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch) or equivalent certification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role on passenger vessels or cargo ships.
- Strong knowledge of marine propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and electrical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform repairs independently.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multicultural team.
