Job Overview
Partners In Health (PIH) Lesotho is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Internal Auditor to strengthen financial governance, risk management, and compliance within the organization. This internship role provides a unique opportunity to support internal audit processes across PIH’s donor-funded programs and field operations, ensuring transparency, accountability, and adherence to international and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit Planning and Risk Management: Develop and maintain internal audit plans aligned with PIH Lesotho’s strategic and donor priorities. Conduct risk assessments to identify key vulnerabilities and recommend effective mitigation measures.
- Evaluate existing internal controls and propose enhancements to improve effectiveness and efficiency across departments.
- Conducting Audits: Perform audits across all PIH Lesotho funding streams and field offices to ensure compliance with internal policies, donor requirements, and statutory laws.
- Undertake field visits to supported sites to assess the adequacy of internal controls, financial integrity, and adherence to operational standards.
- Assist with external audit coordination by providing documentation and clarifications to auditors and donors.
- Reporting and Communication: Produce timely, evidence-based audit reports for the Senior Leadership Team with actionable recommendations to enhance internal governance and safeguard resources.
- Follow up on audit recommendations to ensure prompt implementation and monitor the recurrence of issues.
- Capacity Building: Advise departments on compliance, donor regulations, and internal control systems, while contributing to policy and procedure development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Auditing, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CIA, CPA, CISA, or CRCMP are advantageous.
- Membership in a recognized professional accounting or auditing body is mandatory.
- Minimum of 3 years of audit experience, preferably in the NGO sector.
- Knowledge of internal control systems, risk management, and governance frameworks.
- Proficiency with data analytics tools (ACL, IDEA, or advanced Excel) is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel to rural, hard-to-reach PIH-supported health facilities.
