Job Overview
Merck Life Science, a global leader in healthcare, life sciences, and electronics, is seeking a Warehouse Operator to join its Integrated Supply Chain Operations team in Ichikawa, Chiba. Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, this role is key in ensuring smooth inbound, outbound, and inventory processes, while driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement in a dynamic logistics environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform daily warehouse operations including receiving, picking, packing, and shipping
- Follow Warehouse Manager’s direction to complete on-time inbound and outbound tasks
- Supervise and support temporary staff to ensure efficient workflows
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues in a timely manner
- Communicate with internal teams (Sales, Customer Excellence, etc.) to meet customer requirements
- Lead and participate in Kaizen (process improvement) activities for accuracy, efficiency, and safety
- Manage documentation and reporting (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Operate SAP WMS for inventory and warehouse administration tasks
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse or logistics operations
- Strong adaptability and teamwork skills in multicultural settings
- Business-level Japanese language (native or advanced)
- MS Office (Excel, Outlook) proficiency
- Experience with SAP/WMS systems preferred
Preferred but not mandatory:
- Experience managing temporary staff
- Background in handling chemicals/hazardous goods
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or process improvement methods
- Basic English communication skills or willingness to learn
