About the Federal Skilled Worker Program
Selection factor points (this calculator) are separate from Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points used in Express Entry draws.

Minimum requirements (summary)

  • Skilled work: at least 1 year (1,560 hours) in the last 10 years in TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3, matching your primary NOC, paid and continuous.
  • Language: approved test in English or French with minimum scores in speaking, listening, reading, and writing (CLB 7 in each ability for FSW selection factors).
  • Education: Canadian credential, or foreign credential with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).

Other notes

  • You must plan to live outside Quebec (Quebec has its own skilled worker program).
  • Proof of funds may be required unless you are already authorized to work in Canada with a valid job offer.
  • Arranged employment points require a valid job offer and one of IRCC’s four qualifying situations (LMIA, exempt work, etc.).
  • Adaptability factors are combined; maximum 10 points total even if individual items add up to more.
