Gabon, officially the Gabonese Republic (French: République gabonaise), is a country located on the west coast of Central Africa. It is bordered by Equatorial Guinea to the northwest, Cameroon to the north, Republic of the Congo to the east and south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. The capital and largest city is Libreville.

Rich in natural resources, Gabon has one of the highest per capita incomes in Africa, largely due to its oil, manganese, and timber exports. The country is also known for its dense rainforests, diverse wildlife, and national parks—over 10% of its land area is protected. Gabon is a member of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) and uses the Central African CFA Franc (XAF).

The official language is French, and the population is ethnically diverse, with the Fang being the largest group. Gabon’s tropical climate supports lush vegetation, and the country is increasingly promoting ecotourism and environmental conservation as part of its sustainable development strategy.
