Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement UNOPS’ global climate strategy and policies.
  • Provide expert guidance on climate change mitigation and adaptation projects.
  • Lead the integration of climate resilience across all UNOPS’ programs and operations.
  • Represent UNOPS in international climate forums and partnerships.
  • Oversee the development of innovative, sustainable solutions for climate challenges.
  • Advise senior management on emerging climate risks and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in environmental science, climate studies, sustainable development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in climate policy, environmental management, or sustainable development, preferably within an international organization.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience managing complex climate programs.
  • Excellent understanding of international climate frameworks and agreements.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.
