Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with housing and environmental health legislation.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on housing standards, health, and safety regulations to stakeholders.
- Manage and supervise housing projects and programs to improve living conditions across the Torbay area.
- Respond to public inquiries and complaints regarding environmental health and housing issues promptly and effectively.
- Prepare detailed reports, enforcement notices, and legal documentation for regulatory action.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to achieve housing and public health objectives.
Requirements
- Proven experience in environmental health or housing standards, ideally at a mid-senior level (5+ years).
- Thorough knowledge of relevant UK housing and environmental health legislation and regulations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills for diverse audiences.
- Ability to manage a caseload effectively, prioritize tasks, and work autonomously.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to public service and community welfare.
- A relevant professional qualification or degree in Environmental Health is highly desirable.
