By fostering relationships between sustainable family farms and regional markets, the organization enhances community health, protects the environment, and boosts local economies. They manage the supply chain from procurement to delivery, enabling schools, hospitals, cities, and businesses to benefit from a healthy food system. The Common Market has facilitated the delivery of over 58 million meals worth of food from more than 300 sustainable family farms to community institutions. Current locations include Atlanta, GA; Philadelphia, PA; and Houston, TX, with Chicago, IL coming soon.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for The Common Market’s mission.
    • Oversee all operational, programmatic, and financial aspects of the organization.
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with sustainable family farms, customers, and community partners.
    • Drive fundraising efforts and ensure the financial sustainability and growth of the organization.
    • Represent The Common Market as a key advocate for regional food systems and community health.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team across all regional locations.

    Requirements

    • Proven executive leadership experience, preferably within a non-profit or food system organization.
    • Strong understanding of sustainable agriculture, food distribution, and community development.
    • Exceptional strategic planning, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and nurture external partnerships and secure funding.
    • Deep commitment to the mission of strengthening regional food systems and community well-being.
    • Ability to manage complex, multi-location operations effectively.
