In this role, you will plan, develop, design, coordinate, and review architectural work on large projects with unique requirements. You will prepare discipline estimates and work plans, review and approve design documents, interpret regulations, and assist with performance reporting. Your recommendations for resolving complex issues will help ensure client satisfaction with a project’s architectural aspects.
As a Project Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for the coordination of project architectural design tasks and landscape architecture associated with the development of the NEOM Mountain region, which includes recreational assets such as site-wide infrastructure, ski slopes, hiking and nature trails; real estate comprising hotels, ultra-luxury mansions, villages, lifestyle resorts; and major structures like the Vault, lake tunnel, and bow. This role involves coordinating the scope and integration of work assigned to subcontracted design entities.
Major Responsibilities:
- Conduct, plan, schedule, or coordinate initial and detailed phases of the architectural designs for the project.
- Plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of layout techniques, procedures, and criteria for the architectural designs of project buildings, facilities, and structures including planning and development activities of the region.
- Provide review and make recommendations on development and evaluate infrastructure requirements.
- Prepare conceptual studies, designs, reports, proposals, value engineering studies, or alternate technical concepts in accordance with engineering procedures and contribute to the architectural design of the project facilities.
- Review architectural design tasks and landscape architecture associated with the development of the region.
- Prepare essential contractual documents such as Scope of Work, Request for Proposal (RFP), and Information Report.
- Identify and implement sustainability requirements.
- Coordinate design development with other departments, including construction, estimating, project controls, procurement, and contracts management.
- Coordinate and integrate design work between the architectural discipline, engineering disciplines, and other design entities.
- Interface with clients and stakeholders to make presentations, define project layout requirements, and obtain contractual and statutory approvals.
- Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of cost estimates and quantity take-offs.
Requirements:
- A recognized Bachelor’s/master’s degree in architecture or equivalent from an accredited college or university with an overall experience of 15 years.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience as an architect with hands-on experience in planning, with an understanding of recreational assets such as site-wide infrastructure, ski slopes, hiking and nature trails; real estate including hotels, ultra-luxury mansions, villages, lifestyle resorts; and major structures like the Vault, lake tunnel, and bow.
- Previous experience working as an architect with an interest in the environment and life sciences.
- Experience in planning and program management.
- Relevant experience in the KSA and MENA region and a sound understanding of the cultural norms and requirements of the region and a LEED certified professional.
- US Professional Architects Registration and/or internationally recognized Professional Architects from elsewhere, such as RIBA, is required.
- Practical work experience sufficient to demonstrate competence and breadth in architectural layouts.
- Experience in customer-facing roles, presenting to customers, and working with authorities having jurisdiction.
- Active participation in professional associations for architecture.
- Knowledge of architectural layout design, production techniques, building materials, and construction methods for development of various work areas.
- Understands technical issues and cost-related to the selection of design features and unique architectural design requirements.
- Knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and knowledge of principles and practices of related engineering design methods and systems for iconic structures.
- Understanding and experience of recognized software used in architectural design.
- Broad knowledge of the building industry, regulatory standards.
- Experienced with the practices and procedures as well as international design codes and standards.
- Experience with architectural work planning, scheduling, and cost estimating.
- Skilled in oral and written communication and has graphic presentation skills.
- Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions.
- Experienced with managing knowledge of sustainability and its integration into the design and construction of various buildings.
- Proficiency in Autodesk design suite (Revit, AutoCAD) and model viewing software (e.g., Autodesk Navisworks) to navigate the 3D model for review, coordination, and guidance of physical model development decisions.
- Familiarity with discipline-specific Autodesk design suite (e.g., Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks) design workflows and impacts on discipline productivity, schedule, budget, and staffing plans.
- Knowledgeable in the use and application of relevant business software, GIS programs, Photoshop, and 3D SketchUp.
