PATH is seeking a Surveillance Officer to join its STRengthening Infectious disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This vital role focuses on enhancing infectious disease surveillance and response mechanisms to safeguard public health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage comprehensive disease surveillance activities for the STRIDES project.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret surveillance data to identify trends, outbreaks, and public health risks.
  • Coordinate closely with national and local health authorities, as well as partner organizations.
  • Prepare timely and accurate reports on surveillance findings and project progress for stakeholders.
  • Ensure the quality, integrity, and timely submission of all surveillance data.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to field staff on surveillance methodologies and tools.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in public health surveillance, epidemiology, or infectious disease control.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, including proficiency in relevant software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex and multicultural environment in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
  • Proficiency in French and/or local languages is highly desirable.
