My Employer Asked Me to Resign After Performance Issues and Promised to Rehire Me Later. Should I Trust Them?

I have been working at a hospitality company in Dubai for almost a year. This is my first full-time job in the UAE, and I am currently on an employer-sponsored residence visa.
Recently, I made a few mistakes at work, and my manager called me for a meeting. Instead of giving me a formal warning or performance improvement plan, he suggested that I voluntarily resign.
He told me the company might have more vacancies in December and that I could apply again when they start hiring. However, I would have to go through the entire recruitment process again, including interviews and medical checks.
What worries me is that resigning might affect my final settlement, employment benefits, and visa status. I also have no written guarantee that they will actually hire me again.
I haven't submitted my resignation yet because something about this arrangement doesn't feel right.
Has anyone working in the UAE experienced something similar? Is it better to refuse resignation and let the employer make a formal termination decision instead?
