Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on environmental policies, regulations, and best practices for World Bank projects.
- Conduct environmental and social impact assessments (ESIAs) and due diligence for proposed investments.
- Develop and implement environmental management plans (EMPs) to mitigate risks and ensure sustainable project outcomes.
- Monitor project compliance with environmental safeguards and international standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with government agencies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders on environmental initiatives.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, policy dialogue, and capacity building on environmental issues within the World Bank and client countries.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Policy, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in environmental management, policy formulation, or project implementation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of international environmental safeguard policies and standards (e.g., World Bank Environmental and Social Framework).
- Proven ability to conduct environmental assessments, develop mitigation measures, and monitor compliance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written/oral communication skills in English.
- Ability to work collaboratively in diverse, multidisciplinary teams and engage effectively with stakeholders.
