What Happens When a Public Holiday Falls on a Weekend in Angola?
Angola's statutory bridge-day rule applies specifically when national holidays fall on Tuesdays or Thursdays. It does not establish an automatic Monday replacement for every public holiday occurring on a Saturday or Sunday.
For example, International Women's Day falls on Sunday, 8 March 2026, while Peace and National Reconciliation Day falls on Saturday, 4 April 2026. These remain statutory holidays on their actual dates.
Any additional substitute day should be supported by an applicable legal provision or official government announcement rather than assumed from the weekend alone.
