Bhutan, officially the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a Himalayan country in South Asia. It is bordered by India to the south, east, and west, and China to the north. The capital and largest city is Thimphu.

Bhutan is renowned for its pristine mountains, fortress-monasteries known as dzongs, and the cliffside Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest). Guided by the philosophy of Gross National Happiness (GNH), the country emphasizes cultural preservation, environmental sustainability, and well-being.

The economy centers on hydropower (electricity exports), agro-forestry, construction materials, and niche tourism. Varied altitudes create ecosystems from subtropical valleys to alpine peaks, offering outstanding trekking such as the Snowman Trek.

With Dzongkha as the official language and strong traditions, Bhutan attracts students, professionals, and travelers interested in sustainable development, Himalayan culture, and high-value, low-impact tourism.
