Mozambique is a country in Southern Africa, bordered by Tanzania to the north; Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe to the west; and South Africa and Eswatini to the southwest. It has a long coastline along the Indian Ocean to the east. The capital and largest city is Maputo.

With over 2,400 km of coastline, Mozambique is known for its idyllic beaches, offshore islands, and rich marine life. Inland, landscapes range from savannas and river plains to montane forests. Culturally, the country blends Bantu traditions with Portuguese influence, evident in language, cuisine, and colonial landmarks such as the Island of Mozambique.

The economy is driven by agriculture, fisheries, natural gas, mining, and ports-based trade. While development has been uneven, strategic infrastructure and tourism corridors—as well as liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects—are shaping long-term growth prospects.

Historically positioned along Indian Ocean trade routes, Mozambique connects Southern Africa with global markets via deep-water ports like Maputo, Beira, and Nacala, reinforcing its geopolitical and commercial relevance.
