Guyana, officially the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, is a country located on the northern mainland of South America. It is bordered by Venezuela to the west, Brazil to the south and southwest, and Suriname to the east, with the Atlantic Ocean to the north. The capital and largest city is Georgetown.

Guyana is the only English-speaking country in South America and is known for its diverse cultural heritage, lush rainforests, and abundant natural resources. The economy is driven by sectors such as mining, oil, gold, bauxite, agriculture, and forestry. In recent years, offshore oil discoveries have significantly boosted economic growth.

The country’s landscape features vast rivers, savannas, and waterfalls — including the world-famous Kaiteur Falls. The currency is the Guyanese Dollar (GYD), and English is the official language, making it a key connection between the Caribbean and South America.
