Kyrgyzstan, officially the Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyz: Кыргыз Республикасы), is a landlocked country in Central Asia, bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west, Tajikistan to the south, and China to the east. The capital and largest city is Bishkek.

Kyrgyzstan is known for its dramatic mountain landscapes, particularly the Tian Shan mountain range, which covers about 80% of the country. It is often referred to as the “Switzerland of Central Asia” due to its alpine scenery, clear lakes, and nomadic culture. Lake Issyk-Kul, one of the world’s largest alpine lakes, is a major natural attraction.

The country’s economy is based on agriculture, mining, and hydropower, with gold mining being a key export sector. The official languages are Kyrgyz and Russian, and the national currency is the Kyrgyzstani Som (KGS).
