Sweden is a Nordic country in Northern Europe, located on the Scandinavian Peninsula. It shares land borders with Norway to the west and Finland to the northeast, and is linked to Denmark by the Øresund Bridge. The capital and largest city is Stockholm.

Unified as a kingdom in the Middle Ages, Sweden developed into a major European power in the 17th century and later adopted a tradition of neutrality. Today, it is a high-income country known for innovation, social welfare, and strong institutions, with a parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarchy.

Covering about 450,000 square kilometers, Sweden ranges from the archipelagos and lakes of the south to the forests and mountains of the north. Notable landscapes include the Scandinavian Mountains, the Vänern and Vättern lakes, and vast boreal forests.

Sweden is globally associated with clean design and technology brands, world-class music exports, and outdoor life—plus sights like Gamla Stan (Old Town Stockholm), the Vasa Museum, the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, and Drottningholm Palace.
