Kiribati, officially the Republic of Kiribati (Gilbertese: Ribaberiki Kiribati), is a small island nation in the central Pacific Ocean. It comprises 33 coral atolls and reef islands spread across the Gilbert, Phoenix, and Line Islands. The capital, South Tarawa, is located on Tarawa Atoll in the Gilbert Islands group.

Kiribati is known for its stunning lagoons, traditional Micronesian culture, and challenges associated with rising sea levels. Despite its small size and remote location, the country has a unique geographical spread across both the Equator and the International Date Line, making it one of the first countries to welcome a new day.

The economy relies heavily on fishing, coconut products, and foreign aid, while tourism and remittances also contribute. The official languages are English and Gilbertese, and the currency used is the Australian Dollar (AUD). Kiribati is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations and the Pacific Islands Forum.
