Vanuatu, officially the Republic of Vanuatu, is an island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean. It consists of around 80 islands stretching over 1,300 kilometers, lying east of Australia, northeast of New Caledonia, west of Fiji, and south of the Solomon Islands. The capital and largest city is Port Vila, located on the island of Efate.

Vanuatu is known for its lush rainforests, active volcanoes, coral reefs, and traditional Melanesian culture. The country offers a unique mix of natural beauty and adventure, making it a popular destination for ecotourism, diving, and cultural exploration. The nation’s diverse landscapes include black-sand beaches, waterfalls, and hidden lagoons.

The economy relies heavily on agriculture, tourism, offshore financial services, and foreign aid. Major exports include copra, beef, cocoa, and kava. Vanuatu is also a global hub for scuba diving and yachting, with attractions like the SS President Coolidge shipwreck and the Mount Yasur volcano on Tanna Island.

The people of Vanuatu, known as Ni-Vanuatu, maintain strong traditional customs known as “kastom,” blending modern life with centuries-old heritage. The country’s diverse linguistic landscape features over 100 local languages, along with English, French, and Bislama as official languages.
