Cyprus, officially the Republic of Cyprus (Greek: Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία; Turkish: Kıbrıs Cumhuriyeti), is an island country located in the Eastern Mediterranean. It lies south of Turkey, west of Syria and Lebanon, northwest of Israel, north of Egypt, and southeast of Greece. The capital and largest city is Nicosia (Lefkosia).

Cyprus is known for its beautiful beaches, ancient ruins, and Mediterranean cuisine. It is the third-largest and third-most populous island in the Mediterranean Sea. The economy is driven by tourism, shipping, financial services, and real estate. Despite its division between the Greek Cypriot south and Turkish Cypriot north, the Republic of Cyprus is internationally recognized as the legitimate government of the entire island and is a member of the European Union.

The official languages are Greek and Turkish, while English is widely spoken. The national currency is the Euro (EUR). Cyprus enjoys a subtropical climate, with long dry summers and mild winters, attracting millions of tourists annually.
