Guatemala, officially the Republic of Guatemala (Spanish: República de Guatemala), is a country located in Central America. It shares borders with Mexico to the north and west, Belize to the northeast, Honduras to the east, and El Salvador to the southeast. The Pacific Ocean lies to its south. The capital and largest city is Guatemala City.

Guatemala is known for its rich Mayan heritage, colonial architecture, and volcanic landscapes. It is home to ancient archaeological sites such as Tikal, one of the most important cities of the Mayan civilization. The country’s diverse geography ranges from mountains and rainforests to lakes and Pacific beaches. Agriculture, textiles, and tourism form key parts of its economy, with coffee, bananas, and sugar among its major exports.

The official language is Spanish, though over 20 indigenous languages are also spoken. The currency is the Guatemalan Quetzal (GTQ). Guatemala’s vibrant traditions, colorful markets, and friendly people make it a cultural and natural gem of Central America.
