Haiti, officially the Republic of Haiti (French: République d’Haïti; Haitian Creole: Repiblik d Ayiti), is a Caribbean nation located on the western part of the island of Hispaniola, which it shares with the Dominican Republic. It is bordered by the Caribbean Sea to the south and west, and the Atlantic Ocean to the north. The capital and largest city is Port-au-Prince.

Haiti is the first independent Black republic in the world and the second independent nation in the Americas after the United States. It has a rich cultural heritage shaped by African, French, and Caribbean influences. Despite facing economic and natural challenges, Haiti remains known for its vibrant art, music, and resilience of its people.

The economy is primarily based on agriculture, textiles, and remittances. French and Haitian Creole are the official languages, and the currency is the Haitian Gourde (HTG). The nation is famous for its mountain landscapes, colonial architecture, and historical significance as the world’s first post-slavery republic.
