Lithuania, officially the Republic of Lithuania (Lithuanian: Lietuvos Respublika), is a country in Northern Europe, on the southeastern coast of the Baltic Sea. It borders Latvia to the north, Belarus to the east and south, Poland to the south, and Russia (Kaliningrad Oblast) to the southwest. The capital and largest city is Vilnius.

Lithuania is one of the three Baltic States and was the first Soviet republic to declare independence in 1990. Known for its medieval history, beautiful countryside, and baroque architecture, Lithuania today boasts a high-income economy driven by IT, manufacturing, and biotechnology. It is a member of the European Union, Eurozone, and NATO.

The official language is Lithuanian, one of the oldest Indo-European languages still in use. The national currency is the Euro (EUR). Lithuania offers a blend of modern cities, ancient fortresses, and natural attractions like lakes and forests, making it an increasingly popular European destination.
