Cabo Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde (Portuguese: República de Cabo Verde), is an island country in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of West Africa. It consists of ten volcanic islands forming an archipelago about 570 km (350 mi) west of Senegal. The capital and largest city is Praia, located on Santiago Island.

Cabo Verde is renowned for its stunning beaches, Creole-Portuguese culture, and vibrant music scene, including morna and coladeira. The economy is driven by services, tourism, remittances, and renewable energy development. Despite limited natural resources, Cabo Verde maintains political stability and one of Africa’s highest literacy and governance standards.

Portuguese is the official language, while Cape Verdean Creole is widely spoken. The national currency is the Cape Verdean Escudo (CVE). The islands’ landscapes range from volcanic peaks and deserts to lush valleys, offering both natural and cultural richness.
