Botswana is a landlocked country in Southern Africa, bordered by Namibia to the west and north, Zambia at a short northern point, Zimbabwe to the northeast, and South Africa to the south and southeast. The capital and largest city is Gaborone.

Renowned for the UNESCO-listed Okavango Delta, wildlife-rich Chobe National Park, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, and the vast Makgadikgadi Pans, Botswana is a premier safari destination emphasizing conservation and low-impact, high-quality tourism.

The economy is anchored by diamonds, alongside copper–nickel, beef, tourism, and services. Stable governance and prudent fiscal policy have supported infrastructure and social development. English is the official language; Setswana is widely spoken.

With big-sky desertscapes, seasonal floods, and San rock art at Tsodilo Hills, Botswana offers exceptional fieldwork for ecology, geology, and conservation, as well as career paths in hospitality and natural resource management.
