Cameroon, officially the Republic of Cameroon (French: République du Cameroun), is a Central African nation often referred to as “Africa in Miniature” due to its geological and cultural diversity. It shares borders with Nigeria to the west, Chad to the northeast, Central African Republic to the east, and Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and Republic of the Congo to the south. The country also has a coastline along the Atlantic Ocean (Gulf of Guinea). The capital is Yaoundé, while Douala is the largest city and economic hub.

Cameroon’s landscape ranges from coastal plains and rainforest to mountains and savannas. It is home to Mount Cameroon, one of Africa’s highest volcanoes. The economy is diversified, with key sectors including agriculture, oil, mining, forestry, and services. The country is known for its bilingual heritage—French and English—and its rich traditions in music, art, and cuisine.

Cameroon’s currency is the Central African CFA franc (XAF), shared with other CEMAC nations. It has over 250 ethnic groups and languages, and offers major natural attractions like Waza National Park, Kribi Beach, and Mount Cameroon.
