Iran, officially the Islamic Republic of Iran (Persian: جمهوری اسلامی ایران), is a country in Western Asia, bordered by Iraq to the west, Turkey and Armenia to the northwest, Azerbaijan to the north, Turkmenistan to the northeast, Afghanistan and Pakistan to the east.
