Liberia, officially the Republic of Liberia, is a country located on the West African coast. It shares borders with Sierra Leone to the northwest, Guinea to the north, and Côte d’Ivoire to the east, while the Atlantic Ocean lies to its south and southwest. The capital and largest city is Monrovia.

Liberia is Africa’s oldest republic, founded by freed African Americans in the 19th century. The country’s flag and constitution are modeled after those of the United States. It is known for its lush rainforests, diverse wildlife, and a growing focus on post-war reconstruction, infrastructure, and education. Liberia’s economy relies on agriculture, mining, and shipping services.

The official language is English, though over 20 indigenous languages are also spoken. The national currency is the Liberian Dollar (LRD). The climate is tropical, with a long rainy season and abundant biodiversity along its coast and forested interior.
