Kazakhstan Overview
Kazakhstan, officially the Republic of Kazakhstan (Kazakh: Қазақстан Республикасы), is a vast landlocked country spanning Central Asia and partly Eastern Europe. It is bordered by Russia to the north, China to the east, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan to the south, and the Caspian Sea to the west. The capital is Astana (formerly Nur-Sultan).
Kazakhstan is the world’s ninth-largest country and the largest landlocked nation, featuring vast steppes, deserts, mountains, and lakes. Its economy is driven by rich natural resources, especially oil, gas, and minerals. Kazakhstan is a regional leader in energy, agriculture, and logistics, connecting Asia and Europe through the Belt and Road Initiative.
The country is officially bilingual, with Kazakh as the state language and Russian widely used. The currency is the Kazakhstani Tenge (KZT). Kazakhstan is known for its modern cities, diverse ethnic population, spaceport (Baikonur Cosmodrome), and forward-looking environmental and economic reforms.
