Tanzania, officially the United Republic of Tanzania, is a country located in East Africa. It is bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the north, Rwanda, Burundi, and Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, and Malawi and Mozambique to the south. To the east lies the Indian Ocean. The capital is Dodoma, while Dar es Salaam serves as the largest city and commercial hub.

Tanzania is known for its breathtaking natural landscapes, diverse wildlife, and vibrant culture. It is home to the Serengeti National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa’s highest peak), and the Zanzibar Archipelago. The country gained independence from British rule in 1961 (as Tanganyika) and later united with Zanzibar in 1964 to form the United Republic of Tanzania.

The economy is based on agriculture, mining, and tourism, with gold and coffee being major exports. Tanzania is one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies, known for political stability and vast natural resources. Swahili and English are official languages, reflecting both African and colonial influences.

Major attractions include Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Victoria, Selous Game Reserve, and Stone Town in Zanzibar — all of which make Tanzania one of Africa’s premier safari and adventure destinations.
